These are the 3 most common troubleshooting steps to take when a System Administrator user is unable to Schedule the Refresh of a Dashboard.
1. Update the Running User of the Dashboard
If you do not see the Arrow next to Refresh on the Dashboard, you will likely need to change the Running User of the Dashboard to a non-Admin User. When changing the Running User of the Dashboard, enter the User's name in the "View dashboard as" field and click the drop down arrow and select “Run as Specified User." Choose someone who is NOT an Admin User.
2. Share the Dashboard Folder
When Scheduling a Dashboard, If you do not have the ability to select Users from the picklist, you will also need to Share the Dashboard folder and Report folder with your Users.
Go to the Reports Tab and Hover over the Dashboard Folder you'd like to share with your Users. When the Pin icon appears, Click on the Pin icon and then click Share:
Choose "Users" from the available links.
Then click "Share" next to each User you want to share this Dashboard with, and select their level of access:
3. User Profile Permissions
Finally, the last troubleshooting step to check if you do not have the ability to Share the Dashboard Report Folder, is to check the User Profile for your System Administrator User.
Be sure the User profile has the following settings enabled in the Administrative Permissions section:
- Manage Public Reports
- Manage Dashboards
- Schedule Dashboards
If your system uses Enhanced Folder Sharing you may see different settings. The Settings to look for if your system used Enhanced Folder Sharing are:
- Manage Dashboards in Public Folders
- Manage Reports in Public Folder
