What is a Sandbox?
A Sandbox is a copy of your Production (live) environment used for a variety of purposes. A sandbox is most commonly used for testing and development. This allows Administrators and Developers to test code without affecting the Production (live) environment. Once thoroughly tested, customizations made in the Sandbox can be pushed into the Production environment.
How can I log-in to my system’s Sandbox?
A specific webpage URL is used to log-in to any Sandbox, it is: https://test.salesforce.com/
This page will look slightly different from the regular Salesforce Login page as the Login button specifically states "Login to Sandbox" (see below)
How do I know what my Username is?
Typically, the Username for your Production (live) environment is the User’s email address. But, the Sandbox Usernames must be unique; they cannot be the same as the Production environment Usernames. For that reason, the Username you will use to log-in to the Sandbox will be your *username* plus the Name of the Sandbox. In this example, the name of our Sandbox is "QBUAT." You can find the Name of your Sandbox by navigating to Setup, and search for Sandboxes in the Quick Find.
Click on Sandboxes
You will see all available Sandboxes and their Names here:
In this Example, my Username in the Production system is “emma@homeremodeler.com” so my Username for this Sandbox would be “emma@homeremodeler.com.QBUAT”
The Username is my regular username plus the name of the Sandbox.
The User’s password will be the same password used to log-in to the Production environment.
How can I log-in to my system’s Sandbox from the Mobile App?
If you have already logged into the Mobile App you first need to Log Out. To log-out from the Mobile App, go to the Preferences menu and click Log Out.
From the Login page, click the link: “Use Custom Domain”
Here are screen shots to guide you:
Enter the Domain: https://test.salesforce.com/
Enter your Sandbox Username. Note: if you do not know your Sandbox Username, please read “How do I know what my Username is?” section earlier in this Article.
