improveit 360 clients often like to track which of their past customers are referring new leads to their business. This is best accomplished using a Lookup Field on the Lead Source record, which looks up to the database of Prospects.
Navigate to Setup
Create > Objects > Lead Source
In the Custom Fields & Relationships menu, click the New button
Create a Lookup Relationship Field Type
Lookup to Prospect object
Note: You may also want to Filter the lookup to only Search for Prospects with a Status of Customer. Here is an example of the Filter. We recommend making the Filter Optional.
Save the new Field
Next, add the Referred By Field to two Field Sets on the Lead Source object:
Lead Source - Information
Quick Sale - Lead Source
Note: The "Quick Sale - Lead Source" Field Set allows the Field to be visible on the Lead Entry page, when the User clicks '+more details' in the Lead Source section:
Tracking this data on the Lead Source record means we also capture the Taken On date, what the Lead is Interested In, the Taker and the Referral Source Type data. improveit 360 can create a custom Validation Rule if you would like the "Referred By" Field to be Required when the 'Source Type' is Referral. Reach out to a member of our Support Team about purchasing custom Validation Rules for your system.
Once the Referred By field is being utilized, a Lead Sources report can be created and grouped by the Referred By field. This will allow you to see which Prospects have referred the most new Leads.
In the example below, Caroline Williams has referred four (4) Leads to us over the last few years and Alexander Lewis has referred two (2) new Leads to us just during one month!
