Resolution
Certain fields are not editable using the inline editing feature on record detail pages and list views in Classic. Further the layout and record type filtered in the list view must also be checked. Enabling Accessibility Mode on the user's setting also disables this feature.
All Objects
- Long Text Area Fields (editable on detail pages, not editable on list views)
- Record Type
- Controlling and Dependent picklists (editable on detail pages, not editable on list views)
- Phone/mobile fields do not get formatted. You must save directly after editing this field.
Opportunities
- Opportunity Stage
- Opportunity Amount (editable on detail pages, not editable on list views)
- Opportunity Quantity (editable on detail pages, not editable on list views)
- Opportunity Probability (editable on detail pages, not editable on list views)
Opportunity Splits
- Percent (not editable on detail pages)

To edit any of the fields listed above, you must navigate to edit the page of a record, change the value of the field desired, then click Save.
Notes:
- The Name field cannot be edited in inline editing. The reason being Name field are 2 fields joined together (First Name and Last Name).
- A field must also be on at least one page layout in order to inline edit in a List View. The field must be added on the layout assigned to the record type that is filtered in the list view in order for inline editing to be available.
- The Marketing User check box must be selected on the User detail page to allow the user to perform inline editing.
- This list is a work in progress, Support engineers try to keep it as complete as possible, but fields might be missing from this list.
- Classic UI Users - Inline Editing will not work for list views with six or more filters active.
